Emily is a passionate writer and educator. She is a graduate of Avodah’s Service Corps, a Jewish anti-poverty fellowship, through which she began college counseling at a public high school in Brooklyn. Since then, she has been an instructor at Seizing Every Opportunity, a rigorous college preparatory program for high-achieving students. Emily is also a professor of college composition at Ashland University’s Correctional Education program.

Emily graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wesleyan University (2016), where she obtained her BA in both Government and French with a Certificate in Civic Engagement. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Ashland University.

Outside of work and school, Emily is a SCUBA Divemaster and certified freediver who dabbles in underwater photography and writes about her maritime adventures. A third generation Holocaust survivor, Emily writes about her grandmother’s story.
